Let's Get to Know Each Other

Emilee Moore_Social Media.jpg

I am the proud dog mom of Ridley and Gus.  I am also a wife, and a mom to two young girls. I have a BA from Brigham Young University. When I was in the fifth grade, my teacher told me that I was a good writer.  I believed her, and have been writing ever since.

Teachers, you change lives!

I am passionate about writing!  I love the way the written word can challenge beliefs and change minds.  When I write, I feel like I have a superpower, and my hope is that someone will benefit from the stories I tell.

I sincerely believe in the power of stories.  I am an avid reader and hold books sacred, regardless of their genre.  Books have inspired me to act, to change, to examine myself and become better.  Maybe someday my words will do that for someone else.

When I am not reading, writing, or parenting my little ones, you can find me baking or going on adventures within my community.

I would love to get to know you, too.  Feel free to contact me.  I will do my very best to reply.

Sincerely,

Emilee Moore

Stories That Stick With Me

There is no better way to get to know a writer than to know the books they love.  Below, I am providing a list of books that built me.  It is a long list in its entirety, but for your sake I am limiting myself to 10 titles, arranged by date of discovery, from my childhood to the present day.

1. The Jacket I Wear in the Snow, by Shirley Neitzel. This is the first book I could read by myself.

2. Heckedy Peg, by Audrey Wood.  This was my favorite picture book as a child, and is my favorite now.  When I read it I can still hear my mother doing the voices.

3. Junie B. Jones Series, by Barbara Park.  My first favorite book series!

4. Bridge to Terabithia, by Katherine Paterson.  This was my first introduction into how a book can break your heart.

5. Zel, by Donna Jo Napoli.  I have always been a suckered for fairytale retelling.

6. A Year Down Yonder, by Gregory Peck.  This story strengthened my bond with my father.

7. Artemis Fowl Series, by Eoin Colfer.  I was in middle school once, and this story is epically amazing.

8. Beastly, by Alex Flinn.  I was also in high school once upon a time.

9.  East of Eden, by John Steinbeck.  This book has taught me more about agency and my freedom to create my own happiness than anything else.

10. Pachinko, by Min Jin Lee.  I cannot get this book out of my head!   If you read it, please reach out to me.  I am dying to discuss it with anyone and everyone.
